On Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged Western countries to send much-needed assistance to Ukraine, as the country defends itself against Russian attacks while facing a shortage of ammunition.

“He stated that failure to prevent Iranian ‘Shahed’ drones or Russian fighter jets from defeating America or Europe would result in a shameful page in history. He also warned against encouraging Russian aggression by making weak decisions, delaying deliveries, or hesitating, in reference to the delayed U.S. aid package for Ukraine due to political conflict in Congress.”

“It is simply impossible to explain how the hardships of a bleeding country can be used in domestic political struggles,” Zelenskyy added during his Sunday night video address.

Zelenskyy’s strong language in his statement showcased his exasperation as the number of deaths in the Ukrainian port city of Odesa increased to 12, including five children, on Sunday following a Russian drone attack on an apartment building the day before.

The Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, has declined to vote on the Senate-approved $95 billion foreign aid plan, which includes a significant $60 billion in aid for Ukraine. This choice may delay the package for weeks, adding to the already lengthy wait in Congress.

“We’re anticipating the much-needed arrival of supplies, specifically an American solution,” stated Zelenskyy during his evening speech on Sunday.

According to Zelenskyy’s Sunday evening speech, Russia has experienced a loss of 15 military planes since the start of February. He also stated that the more chances there are to shoot down Russian aircraft, the more lives of Ukrainian people can be spared.
