The United Nations representative expressed extreme shock and anger over the violent assault in Kherson, Ukraine.

Numerous non-combatants were fatally wounded and harmed, including a two-month-old infant who was admitted to a hospital for treatment.

Reports indicate that a hospital and an ambulance were hit, resulting in injuries to two medical staff members and a patient.

Non-combatants bear the cost.

Denise Brown, the UN’s Coordinator for Humanitarian Aid in Ukraine, released a statement expressing her deep shock and outrage at the violent assaults.

“In the past 24 hours, innocent citizens in the city of Kherson on the front lines have continued to suffer greatly from relentless and violent attacks. In certain areas of eastern and southern Ukraine, including Kherson, essential services have been greatly diminished, with less than half of hospitals and clinics still operating,” she reported.

Ms. Brown observed that the World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed more than 1,300 assaults on healthcare in Ukraine since the escalation of the war in February 2022, comprising more than half of all global attacks during this time.

End ‘relentless attacks’

She stated that the ongoing assaults from Russia need to stop. She emphasized that the loss of innocent lives due to the Ukrainian invasion is a disturbing reminder of the extreme cruelty of this conflict.

She emphasized the importance of upholding international humanitarian law, which grants special protection to health facilities, health workers, and civilians. Any attack on these entities is considered a serious violation.
