Additional attacks in the Middle East as the initial meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group for the new year commences.
The U.S. military reports that it attacked three locations on Tuesday in western Iraq that were being used by Kataib Hezbollah, a militant group backed by Iran. These strikes are in response to over 150 attacks by militant groups on U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria since mid-October. There are increasing worries that the U.S. could become involved in another conflict in the Middle East, as it is assisting Israel in its battle against Hamas and supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression. VOA’s Pentagon correspondent, Carla Babb, provides more information.
