The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, visited Albania on Wednesday to hold meetings with regional leaders in hopes of gaining more support for his country’s battle against a Russian invasion.
President Zelenskyy expressed his intention to deliberate on matters of “defense and political cooperation” and also Ukraine’s peace proposal during his meeting with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama.
“I plan to offer my support for Ukraine’s pursuit of a fair and lasting peace, and also arrange the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland,” stated Zelenskyy on the social media platform X.
Igli Hasani, the Foreign Minister of Albania, has shown strong backing from the government for Ukraine’s attempts at peace and has pledged assistance for reconstruction efforts in the country.
Hasani expressed that this is a critical moment to cultivate strong relationships between nations and to demonstrate support for Ukraine in its valiant battle against Russia’s unjust aggression, in a post on X.
On Wednesday, the Ukrainian military reported that there were ongoing attacks from Russia overnight, including 10 unmanned aerial vehicles and an undisclosed quantity of guided missiles.
The Ukrainian air force announced that they successfully neutralized all 10 drones in the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions.
