Around 75,000 ethnic Hungarians who reside in the Zakarpattia region of Ukraine have sought refuge in Hungary and other European countries to escape the conflict with Russia and the compulsory military service in Ukraine. This was made possible by the Hungarian government’s facilitation of obtaining Hungarian passports for these individuals.
